Simple, beautiful, designed for everyday functionality and style, and YOU can make it! Use this straightforward PDF pattern and build-along video to craft this clever clutch that will be cherished for years to come. This is an especially good project for hand-stitching! I designed this pattern to be as frustration-free as possible so that you will love every minute of the project.
Bold lines, distinctive curves, with easy access to the main compartment via two snap closures. Interior storage includes three card pockets up front (comfortably holds 9 cards total), zipper pocket for cash or coins, with more space behind the zipper pocket for a phone or receipts. Optional wrist strap for easy and secure carry.
Don't want a zipper? I have included an optional zipper-free variation in the PDF pattern as well!
Dimensions
- Outside dimensions (width/height/depth): 8.75 x 4.75 x 0.5" (22.2 x 12cm x 1.2cm)
- Built to hold about 9 credit cards up front and a phone behind the zipper pocket, while the zipper pocket securely holds cash, receipts and coins.
Check out the full build-along video below!
The PDF pattern includes a list of all the hardware you'll need as well as leather recommendations, pattern printing tips, and a full-scale, easy-to-follow pattern.
This is not a physical product. It is a PDF pattern that you may download when your order is complete. You will receive an email with a link to download it.
While the pattern is designed to be as simple to follow as possible, this is an intermediate to advanced level project. Below are a few skills I would say are essential for this project:
- Stitching, either by hand or using a sewing machine (learn to hand stitch here)
- Building and installing a zipper (learn here)
- Setting snap fasteners (covered in this video)
- Edge finishing (learn here)
From one creator to another: Please feel free to use this pattern for personal use (make it for your friends and family, etc). If you use it as inspiration for something you sell, I would challenge you to make it "yours" by altering the design to make it fit your own creative style.
Can you sell the clutch as-is? Yes, you have my permission to use this design to sell it from individual to individual (not mass-produced). But then go make your own design too! I promise it will be well worth it in the end. Have fun!

Note on printing: this large PDF prints on multiple pages. (Printing instructions included in pattern.) However, it seems that on Apple computers, Adobe may have removed the capability to print on multiple pages in the free version of Acrobat. PC users should be able to print at home using the free Acrobat Reader. If are unable to print at home, it can also be printed at a local print shop.
